Compressor version comparison

Hey guys, I have been editing video for a while in Premiere Pro but I just bought Final Cut Pro X and want to make the switch. I have Compressor 3.5.3 (from when I bought Logic Studio 9). Do I need the latest version of Compressor? What are the main differences?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Yes, you need the latest version to use with FCPX. Your version is very out of date. Current version of compressor is super fast, faster than Media Encoder on the same hardware, and configured properly. Must simpler to use. And integrates into FCPX and Motion. No, your old version won't work with FCPX at all. But it is really inexpensive, you get a lot of bang for your buck, and you pay once, you have it as long as you have your Mac. All updates are free. No monthly fee so that in one years you've paid for it several times over.
